Announcement

I'm launching this site, "Craig's Random Reflections" at craig-marshall.com today, 24th April 2024. Most posts are copies from my other blog site, "Time to Think" at craig-marshall.net. I'm in process of evaluating two service providers, so there may be duplication between the two sites for a time, until I've settled on one.

WHO?
WHY?

WHAT?

In case anyone is interested:

I’m a husband and father. My wife and I have five children, all grown up now and theoretically left home. We have twelve grandchildren. We live in the North of England.

I’m a man of faith, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My employment until retirement was coordinator in the Seminaries and Institutes of Religion of the Church. I’m serious about my faith but I don’t take myself too seriously; one of the greatest gifts from God is a sense of humour. My working life started as a secondary school art teacher, specialising in ceramics. I still enjoy painting watercolours and photography (most of the landscapes in the website are my own), though I’m not very good at either. All my life I’ve enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, kayaking, dingy sailing, cycling and so forth. Now in my declining years physical adventure is largely limited to hiking, especially the Lake District Fells, but also the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors.

My blog is a self-indulgent venture: partly a means of clarifying my thinking on almost anything and everything; partly a kind of journal. My posts are notes on my faith; letters to myself to remind me what I believe and how I should act. My love of Jesus Christ who is my Saviour is the most important thing in my life. In some ways my posts are the sermons I never gave, as a bishop or stake president. So, I suppose my blog is “religious” and will most appeal to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My ramblings may have little interest for anyone else and I don’t flatter myself that many, if any, will be bothered to read them, even my friends at Church. But hey, if you want to, you’re welcome.

Disclaimer
My posts are influenced by my family and my faith. However, this website is not an official publication of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or its Seminary and Institute organisation and has no support or endorsement from the Church. The views expressed are my own and may not represent the policies, procedures or doctrines of the Church; although I will try hard to make sure they do.
